Pima rhatany is a hardy desert shrub best suited to well-drained, rocky or sandy soils in full sun to part shade. Water sparingly once established, as it is adapted to arid conditions in the Sonoran Desert. Avoid overwatering and heavy clay soils, which can cause root rot.
