Lupinus nootkatensis var. fruticosus

The Shrubby Nootka Lupine is a sub-shrubby perennial native to the cool, moist coastlines of Alaska and British Columbia, producing vivid blue-purple flower spikes on woody stems. It performs best in cool climates with partial sun and moist, well-drained, slightly acidic soils, and its nitrogen-fixing roots improve the soil over time. Trim back spent flower stalks after blooming to tidy the plant and reduce aggressive self-seeding.
