Lupinus sericeus subsp. sericeus

Silky lupine is a beautiful native perennial of the western mountains, bearing tall spikes of blue-purple flowers above silvery, silky-haired foliage. Plant in well-drained soil in a sunny to partly shaded location, as it dislikes heavy clay or consistently wet roots. As a nitrogen-fixing legume, it improves soil health over time and is an excellent choice for naturalized meadow or wildflower plantings.
