Malus daochengensis

Malus daochengensis is an exceptionally rare wild crabapple species endemic to the Daocheng region of south-central China, best grown outdoors in temperate gardens with partial shade and reliably moist, well-drained soil. Prune after flowering to encourage a tidy form and inspect regularly for common Rosaceae pests such as aphids and scale insects. This is primarily a collector's species with significant botanical interest rather than ornamental landscape value.
