Malus spontanea is a rare Japanese wild apple valued by collectors and botanists for its delicate spring blossoms and compact growth habit. Plant in a sunny to partly shaded location with well-drained, fertile soil and water regularly during the first two to three growing seasons until fully established. Annual late-winter pruning will encourage healthy branching and abundant flowering.
