Marshmallow
Althaea officinalis
Marshmallow is a robust perennial herb prized for its medicinal root and soft, velvety leaves; it grows best in moist, well-drained soil with partial to full sun. Water regularly but avoid waterlogging, as the roots are the most valuable part and can rot in soggy conditions. Cut stems back to the ground in autumn and expect vigorous regrowth each spring.
