Maximilian's sunflower is a vigorous native perennial that produces masses of bright yellow daisy-like flowers from late summer through fall on tall stems up to 10 feet. Plant it in full sun with well-drained soil and water during dry spells; once established it is quite drought tolerant and needs little supplemental care. It spreads by rhizomes to form bold prairie-style drifts and is an outstanding pollinator and songbird plant.
