Mayapple

Mayapple is a charming native woodland perennial that spreads by rhizomes to form attractive colonies under deciduous trees. It prefers consistently moist, humus-rich soil and dappled shade similar to its forest floor habitat. Once established it needs little attention, though it goes dormant by midsummer.
