Medlar is a charming, small deciduous fruit tree prized for its unusual late-season fruits and attractive blossom in spring. It prefers well-drained, fertile soil and a sunny to partially shaded position sheltered from harsh winds. Fruits are harvested after the first frosts and must be bletted (allowed to soften) before eating.
