Metrosideros waialealae var. fauriei

This extremely rare variety of Metrosideros waialealae is endemic to the high-rainfall bogs and forests of Kauaʻi, Hawaii, making it one of the most specialist plants in cultivation. It demands consistently moist, acidic, well-drained soil and high ambient humidity in a sheltered partly shaded position. This plant is essentially unavailable commercially and is primarily of interest to botanical collections and conservation programs.
