Midland hawthorn is a tough, wildlife-friendly deciduous shrub or small tree that tolerates partial shade better than most hawthorns, making it ideal for hedgerows, woodland edges, or specimen planting. It produces clusters of white to pink flowers in spring followed by red berries (haws) that birds relish in autumn and winter. Prune lightly after flowering to shape; it requires minimal care once established.
