Montpellier milkvetch
Astragalus monspessulanus
Montpellier milkvetch is a low-growing Mediterranean perennial legume producing attractive pink-purple pea-like flowers that pollinators love. It thrives in well-drained, lean soils in a sunny position and is very drought tolerant once established, making it ideal for dry gardens and rock gardens. Avoid heavy, waterlogged soils and provide minimal fertilisation as it fixes its own nitrogen.
