New Mexico locust is a tough, fast-growing shrub or small tree ideal for xeric and native plant gardens in the American Southwest. Once established, it requires very little supplemental watering and thrives in poor, rocky, or sandy soils with full sun exposure. Its showy pink-lavender flowers attract pollinators in spring, and it naturally spreads by root suckering to form attractive thickets.
