Oenothera elata subsp. hookeri

Hooker's evening primrose is a tall, striking biennial-like perennial bearing bright yellow flowers on upright stems that can reach four to six feet in height. It performs best in full sun to light shade with average, well-drained soil and moderate watering during the growing season. An excellent choice for native pollinator gardens in California and the Pacific Southwest, it readily self-seeds to naturalize over time.
