Olsynium douglasii var. douglasii

Grass widows is a charming early-spring bulbous perennial native to the Pacific Northwest, producing striking purple to magenta flowers before most other plants emerge. Plant corms in well-drained soil in a partly shaded spot and water regularly during its spring growing period, tapering off as the foliage yellows in summer. It is an ideal choice for woodland gardens, rock gardens, or native plant meadow plantings.
