Orangegrass is a wiry, upright native perennial that thrives in open, sunny to partly shaded areas with sandy or well-drained, lean soils. It is very low maintenance, requiring minimal watering once established and no fertilization — rich soils can actually hinder its growth. Its tiny yellow flowers attract a variety of pollinators, making it a great addition to native plant gardens and disturbed habitat restorations.
