Lyall's penstemon is a charming, slow-growing native perennial of the northern Rocky Mountains and Pacific Northwest, bearing showy lavender-pink tubular flowers that hummingbirds and bees adore. Plant in well-drained, gritty or rocky soil in a partly shaded to sunny location and water moderately, as this mountain native dislikes soggy conditions. It is an excellent choice for naturalistic or xeriscape gardens once established, requiring minimal fertilization and only light tidying after floweri
