The Sierra white bog orchid is a rare native terrestrial orchid found in moist mountain meadows and streamside habitats of western North America, making it extremely difficult to grow outside its specialized environment. It requires cool, wet, nutrient-poor acidic soil and will not tolerate drying out or heavy fertilization. Only attempt cultivation in carefully designed native bog gardens, and always source plants from ethical, nursery-propagated stock.
