Spring pasqueflower (Pulsatilla vernalis) is a delicate alpine plant with silky, nodding blooms that demands very well-drained, gritty, slightly acidic soil and cool growing conditions. It resents root disturbance and transplanting, so choose its permanent position carefully in a rock garden or alpine trough. Avoid overwatering and wet winters, as standing moisture around the crown will quickly cause rot.
