Purple clematis produces abundant purple bell-shaped flowers from summer through fall and is excellent for covering fences or trellises. Keep roots cool with mulch while allowing the vine to climb toward sunlight for best flowering. This Group 3 clematis should be hard pruned in late winter to encourage vigorous new growth and maximum blooms.
