Roast-beef plant is a hardy, shade-tolerant iris that produces subtle lilac flowers in summer followed by striking orange-red seed pods that persist into winter. It thrives in partial shade with average, well-draining soil and requires very little maintenance once established. This plant is an excellent choice for woodland gardens and shaded borders where few other plants perform well.
