Rosa carolina subsp. carolina

Carolina rose is a tough, low-growing native shrub that produces fragrant single pink flowers in early summer and small red rose hips in fall that attract birds throughout winter. It thrives in average to dry soils in full sun to partial shade and is highly adaptable to challenging sites including slopes and disturbed areas. It spreads by suckers to form a dense thicket, making it an excellent low-maintenance ground cover or wildlife hedge.
