Rough avens
Geum laciniatum
Rough avens is a hardy native perennial that grows well in moist, partly shaded spots such as woodland edges, stream banks, and rain gardens. It requires little maintenance once established and spreads readily in suitable conditions. Small yellow flowers in late spring give way to bur-like seed heads that add texture to naturalistic plantings.
