Round-headed rampion

Round-headed rampion is a charming alpine wildflower native to European chalk and limestone grasslands, producing distinctive spherical violet-blue flower heads in summer. It prefers well-drained, moderately fertile alkaline soil and partial shade, making it well suited to rockeries, wildflower borders, or naturalistic garden schemes. Keep soil from drying out completely during the growing season and avoid rich, overly fertilised conditions that promote leafy growth at the expense of flowering.
