Salmonberry (Rubus spectabilis) is a vigorous Pacific Northwest native shrub that produces beautiful pink-magenta spring flowers followed by edible salmon-colored to reddish berries enjoyed by wildlife and humans alike. Plant in moist, well-drained soil in partial shade and water regularly, especially during dry summers. It spreads by suckers, so occasional thinning is recommended to keep it contained in smaller gardens.
