Senegalia greggii

Catclaw acacia (Senegalia greggii) is a rugged desert shrub or small tree native to the American Southwest and northern Mexico, well adapted to hot, dry conditions and poor soils. Plant it in full sun with excellent drainage and water sparingly once established, as overwatering is the most common cause of decline. Its fragrant cream-yellow flower spikes attract pollinators in spring, and its recurved thorns provide outstanding wildlife shelter — wear gloves when handling.
