Spanish broom is a tough, low-maintenance shrub that thrives in well-drained, poor soils and full sun to partial shade. Once established it is quite drought tolerant and produces a profusion of bright yellow pea-like flowers in late spring. Prune lightly after flowering to maintain a tidy shape and encourage bushier growth.
