Spanish garlic
Allium scorodoprasum
Spanish garlic is a robust, bulb-forming perennial that grows readily in well-draining soil with moderate moisture and at least six hours of sunlight per day. Plant bulbs in autumn at a depth of about twice their diameter, spacing them 4–6 inches apart, and they will naturalise reliably over time. The attractive purple flower heads draw pollinators in early summer, and the mildly garlic-flavoured leaves and bulbs can be used in cooking.
