Sphagnum squarrosum

Squarrose sphagnum moss is a bog moss that must be kept permanently saturated with pure, low-mineral water such as rainwater or reverse-osmosis water — tap water minerals will quickly kill it. It thrives in cool, humid, partially shaded conditions and is commonly used as a growing medium for carnivorous plants or terrarium projects. Avoid fertilizers entirely, as this moss is adapted to nutrient-poor environments.
