Spiraea douglasii var. douglasii

Douglas spiraea is a vigorous, deciduous shrub native to the Pacific Northwest that produces showy pink to rose-purple plumes in summer and thrives in moist, partly shaded sites. It spreads by rhizomes and can form attractive thickets, making it ideal for erosion control along stream banks or in rain gardens. Little pruning is needed beyond occasional thinning to keep it tidy.
