Swedish whitebeam is a handsome, medium-sized deciduous tree valued for its lobed leaves with white-felted undersides and clusters of red berries that attract birds in autumn. It adapts well to a range of soils including chalk and clay, and tolerates urban pollution and coastal exposure. Once established it needs minimal care, making it an excellent low-maintenance choice for parks, large gardens, and street planting.
