Tetradymia spinosa

Spiny horsebrush is a drought-adapted native shrub of the western American high desert, bearing small yellow composite flowers on spiny stems. It thrives in full sun to partial shade with lean, well-drained alkaline soils and requires very little supplemental watering once established. This plant is best suited to xeriscape or native habitat restoration projects rather than conventional garden settings.
