Thermopsis macrophylla

Large-leaf thermopsis is a striking California native lupine relative that produces tall spikes of bright yellow flowers in spring. Plant in well-drained soil with partial shade and avoid disturbing the deep taproot once established, as it dislikes transplanting. It spreads slowly by rhizomes and becomes quite drought-tolerant once settled in.
