Toughleaf iris is a resilient Pacific Northwest native that produces beautiful purple to lavender blooms in spring and thrives in partly shaded woodland garden settings. Plant in well-drained, humus-rich soil and water regularly during establishment, tapering off once the plant is settled. It is low-fuss once established and works beautifully as a ground cover or border plant in native or naturalistic gardens.
