Tree heath is a large, evergreen shrub or small tree that produces masses of small white to pink flowers in late winter and early spring. It prefers acidic, well-drained soil and full sun to partial shade, and is remarkably tolerant of poor soils once established. Minimal pruning is needed — simply remove dead wood after flowering to maintain a tidy shape.
