Vachellia constricta

Whitethorn acacia is a tough, spiny desert shrub well suited to hot, arid landscapes and xeriscape gardens in the Southwest. It requires very little supplemental water once established and thrives in full sun with excellent drainage — avoid clay soils that stay wet. Its fragrant yellow pom-pom flowers attract pollinators in spring and its thorny structure provides excellent wildlife shelter.
