Veratrum californicum var. californicum

California false hellebore is a bold, large-leafed native perennial that thrives in moist, humus-rich soils along stream banks and mountain meadows in partial shade. Keep the soil consistently moist and avoid letting it dry out, as this plant naturally grows in wet habitats. Note that all parts of this plant are highly toxic if ingested, so it should be planted away from children and livestock.
