Hairy vetch is a vigorous, fast-growing legume that thrives in average, well-drained soils with partial shade to full sun. Water regularly during establishment but reduce once the plant is established, as it tolerates mild dry spells. It is excellent as a cover crop or wildlife plant, fixing nitrogen in the soil and requiring very little intervention.
