Limodorum abortivum
Violet limodore is a fascinating mycoheterotrophic orchid that obtains nutrients through a symbiotic relationship with underground fungi, making it extremely difficult to cultivate outside its natural habitat. It produces striking violet-purple flower spikes in spring and early summer in dappled woodland shade. This plant is best admired in the wild and is not recommended for typical garden cultivation.
