Welsh onion is an easy-to-grow perennial herb that performs best in full sun with fertile, well-draining soil and regular but moderate watering. Harvest the hollow green stems continuously throughout the season much like chives — cutting regularly encourages fresh new growth. It is cold-hardy, divides easily in spring or autumn to produce new clumps, and makes an excellent container plant for a sunny kitchen windowsill.
