Wild clary
Salvia verbenaca
Wild clary is a resilient perennial sage that does best in full sun to light shade with well-drained, moderately fertile soil and minimal watering once established. It produces small violet-blue flowers that attract bees and butterflies and has a long history of medicinal and culinary use. Deadhead spent flower spikes to encourage re-bloom and cut back in early spring to keep the plant tidy.
