Maqui or Chilean wineberry is a hardy shrub native to the cool temperate forests of Chile and Argentina, preferring partial shade and consistently moist, humus-rich soil. It tolerates mild frost once established and produces small dark berries rich in antioxidants that are enjoyed fresh or in juices. Prune lightly after fruiting to maintain shape and encourage healthy new growth.
