Argemone pinnatisecta is a spiny, drought-adapted prickly poppy native to New Mexico that grows best in well-draining, sandy or gravelly soil with partial to full sun. Handle with care as the spiny foliage and caustic latex sap can irritate skin. This native wildflower produces striking white to yellow poppy-like blooms and is an excellent choice for xeric and native plant gardens in the Southwest.
