Blue bugle is a low-growing, mat-forming perennial that thrives in partial shade with average, consistently moist soil. It produces attractive spikes of blue flowers in spring and makes an excellent ground cover under trees or along shaded borders. Minimal pruning is needed; simply trim back after flowering to keep the planting tidy and encourage dense growth.
