Chloropyron maritimum subsp. canescens

The canescent salt marsh bird's-beak is a rare hemiparasitic plant found in alkali and saline wetlands across California, Nevada, Oregon, and Utah. It depends on host plant roots in its native wetland environment and cannot be grown without appropriate saline soil and suitable host vegetation. This subspecies is a conservation-priority plant and is not suitable for conventional home gardening.
