The Mexican gold poppy thrives in full sun with well-draining, sandy or rocky soil and very little water once established. It is an excellent choice for dry gardens, wildflower meadows, and xeriscaping in warm climates. Direct-sow seeds in autumn or early spring and avoid transplanting, as it resents root disturbance.
