Mirabilis multiflora var. pubescens

This hairy-leaved variety of the Colorado four o'clock is a stunning tuberous perennial producing masses of magenta-pink trumpet flowers that open in the afternoon and attract hummingbirds and night pollinators. Plant in full sun to part shade with excellent drainage; it is highly tolerant of poor, dry soils once its deep taproot is established. Cut back stems in late fall and the plant will re-emerge vigorously from its large tuber each spring.
