Narrow-leaf helleborine is a stunning but highly challenging terrestrial orchid that depends on mycorrhizal fungi for establishment and survival, making it very difficult to grow outside its natural woodland habitat. It prefers dappled shade under deciduous or mixed woodland with alkaline to neutral, well-drained soil rich in leaf litter. This plant is best left to specialist growers, as it rarely thrives when transplanted and is protected in many parts of its range.
