White helleborine
Cephalanthera damasonium
White helleborine is a delicate terrestrial orchid best grown in a shaded woodland garden with alkaline, well-drained soil rich in leaf mold. Like most European orchids, it relies on mycorrhizal fungi associations and is highly sensitive to root disturbance or soil amendments. It is most successful when planted into a stable, established woodland environment and left undisturbed.
