Honey mesquite is an extremely tough, drought-adapted tree suited to hot, arid landscapes in USDA zones 6–9. Once established, it requires minimal watering and thrives in full sun with well-drained or even poor soils. It produces fragrant yellow flower spikes in spring that attract bees and wildlife, making it a great low-maintenance xeriscape specimen.
